a few odds and ends

The end of June at Laura's cute cabin in Boulder, UT. I love Boulder. It is so quiet and tucked away. I just feel calm when I'm there.  Nate and I stopped in Boulder for a day before meeting up with the Maesers at the Gardner's cabin on Boulder Mountain.  This was the week before we moved to Omaha. There is no where in the world that compares to Boulder, UTah. Either people get it or they don't.  I thought I looked way pregnant back then. Geez. COmpared to what I look like now, you can't even tell. I just look like I ate lunch in this photo.

While in Utah for 6 weeks this summer I went hiking almost every week with my dear friend Amy. This was our last hike, Doughnut Falls in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Nate and I are posing with Amy's little almost 4 year old Z... Z said of Nate, "He's my best friend. My best big boy because he holds my hand and helps me on the hikes". Just yesterday Nate said that he wished he could hang out with Z. He said, "she's fun and smart".

My visiting teacher threw a baby shower for me. These are a few of the ladies from the Conestoga Branch in Omaha. I really appreciated the shower. I'm so new here that my only friends are the ladies in the branch. It is really nice to move to a new place far from family and friends and be welcomed. Also... this being our first baby, I think I would have felt a little sad if I didn't have a shower. Of course, being so new I really didn't expect one.  So thanks.

Nate keeps taking pictures of my belly. We are both pretty amazed at how big it keeps getting. It is for real. There is a 7+lb baby in my belly. So weird. So weird.

People never thought I would make it full term. I didn't think I would either. I'm about to expose a little too much... but I am one of the few women in this world with a "uterine anomaly". That is a fancy vague way of saying I have a funky uterus. Well... to be less vague I have two uterus-es.  How does that work? Who knows. But it does. This pregnancy has been really great. I'm full term today and I feel pretty good. Only thing even a little abnormal about this pregnancy is that the boy hangs out on my right side and his head is just under my ribs. Breached babies are really common due to the shape of the uterus. Because he's breached and it isn't expected that he will turn we've scheduled his birth. SOrt of opposite of the birth story I was hoping for. I imagined candles, hypno-babies playing in the background and a natural meditative water birth. I'm ok with it, but unless I go into labor earlier our boy will be born Monday October 29 around 10 or 11 a.m. A scheduled c-section.  A scheduled birthday. Do zodiac signs still count if we decide when our boy comes into the world? Oh well. Just in case anyone cares, he will be a Scorpio with a Taurus moon and Pisces rising sign.

My other dear friend Amy and her husband Jed visited us a few weekends ago. They live in Leavenworth, Kansas... about 3 hours from Omaha. Amy took a few maternity pictures for us. I wish I would have gotten a photo with her. Anyways... this is the belly.

The daddy.
